Trimbach Gewurztraminer Selection de Grains Nobles is a wine produced only in very special years - over the past 27 years they have produced SGN a total of six times. Selection de Grains Nobles sweet wines produced from select fruit touched by botrytis cinerea; noble rot.
The earliest mention of the production of wine from the rare Traminer varietal is in 1511. The first clones were derived already in 1870, and since that time winemakers in Alsace call this variety "Gewürztraminer" which means "sharp" Traminer. Wines made from it are rich, balanced and very fragrant. Not surprisingly, the wine Selection de Grains Nobles is a real gem of winemaking.
